Squeeze Cementing in Oil and Gas Wells

Squeeze cementing represents measures to block water pathways leading to wells, as well as shutoff of individual reservoirs and watered intervals. This work is one of the principal means to enhance oil and gas recovery of the reservoir.

Squeeze cementing is held when the following measures are necessary:

  • isolation of the productive fields from waters;
  • Creation of cement column on the bottom-hole of the well, or in the column of cement plug;
  • filter shutdown in the case of well transfer to higher / lower horizons;
  • Creation of a cement ring near the bottom-hole zone for proper isolation of the well;
  • elimination of the defects in the production casing;
  • Insulation of the horizons in the range between production casing or additional trunk liner, while drilling and sidetracking;
  • Strengthening of the bottom-hole zone to reduce slugs.

Important requirements for squeeze cementing:

  • providing injection of insulating agent into the well;
  • punching in an insulated interval, which is achieved excepting operations leading to dilution of the working solutions;
  • filling the wells with a homogeneous fluid;
  • the use of working solutions of greater density than the density of the fluid in the well;
  • The use of drillable packers.

During squeeze cementing SNK company carries out:

  • killing of the well;
  • wellhead equipment, taking into account the direct and return circulation, and also the movement of the pipes;
  • lifting of the tubing and down-hole equipment
  • carrying out geophysical and hydrodynamic studies;
  • determination of the injection capacity of the channels, leading fluids to the annulus;
  • stream flow direction and adjusting the delivery rate of the injected fluid;
  • curvature and extent of borehole cavity analysis;
  • determination of the depth of centralizers’ location;
  • determination of the temperature and pressure in the reservoir;
  • determination of the class of rocks;
  • Establishing of the fracturing pressure;
  • Analysis of the chemical composition of the fluid for insulation;
  • assessment of the liquid volume from the reservoir;
  • the creation of special openings on the height of 1 meter;
  • measurement of in-depth setup of a sand plug (explosion of packer);
  • lowering and mounting of the drilling shoe of the string;
  • Conducting of hydrotest of the tubing and packer;
  • Checking of the tightness of the column
